Drug and Alcohol Compliance

Companies today are challenged to produce at a more intense pace — and at a higher level of accuracy — than even a few years ago. And employees affected by drugs and alcohol often impede results.

Drug-Free Workplace Policies

DOR works with employers to develop and maintain drug-free workplace policies. We can help you:

  • Fully develop and refine company policy so that it’s consistently enforced, which limits company exposure to liability issues.
  • Design and provide training to managers on workplace drug and alcohol issues.
  • Design educational components for employees.
  • Provide quality drug-free workplace assessments and follow-up care to employees who violate company policy.

Department of Transportation Mandates

As of Jan. 1, 1996, all employers covered by U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations are required to implement a drug and alcohol policy and testing program to comply with federal regulations (CRF-49, part 382). While most covered employees are drivers under Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration (FMCSA), the act also pertains to airline, transit, railroad, pipeline and maritime workers. If your company is required to implement a drug and alcohol testing program in compliance with this mandate, we can help you:

  • Understand your company’s responsibilities as defined by DOT regulations.
  • Meet DOT requirements to eliminate use of controlled substances and misuse of alcohol.
  • Train supervisors and managers as required by DOT.
  • Design education components for employees.
  • Provide DOT-compliant Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) services for employees who test positive for drugs and/or alcohol.
